Damon, thank you for sharing your thoughts and pointing out how the Reformation continues to influence contemporary Christian thought and action. I believe that an important aspect of studying the Reformation is being able to see how past events continue to influence present-day Christianity.
I completely agree with your comment regarding the ways in which the Reformation shaped the manner in which Christians understand themselves as members of the body of Christ through their relationships with Scripture, salvation, and the Church. To this day, the Reformation’s emphasis on Scripture and justification by faith continues to shape how churches preach, disciple, and worship. In addition, I believe the Reformation demonstrates that renewal will sometimes be accompanied by division. While it provided much-needed correction to the Roman Catholic Church, it also produced divisions within Christianity that are still evident today.
