Discussion board initial post – Riley Bowman
Two ways that theology realistically connects with real life would be how we interact with God and how we live as a Christian. If our theology of God is wrong, it will hinder our relationship with Him. A basic understanding of the atonement should give us confidence to see God not as a terrifying judge, but a loving father. We see His plan so send Jesus to atone for our sins, making us right before God by His blood, so now we can go to the Holy God without the separation of sin. Theology also changes the Christian life because we can study what God commands of His followers in the New Testament. We are no longer held to the Levitical law set for the Israelites, but we still are called to reflect Gods character and design for His people. This changes our practice of loving others, serving others, marriage and sexuality, leadership, alcohol, and many more things. We study the Bible not to be legalistic or like the Pharisees, but to better understand who He is and how we can worship Him with our life.
