Theology connects with real life by showing us how to make choices in front of God. When we understand God as holy, sovereign, and wise, we stop making decisions that don’t take into account how they will affect our finances, work, and family life. Instead, we start asking what will most honor Christ. Good teaching about God’s character, human sin, and Christ’s lordship keeps us from making decisions based on our feelings or what other people think. Instead, it grounds our choices in what God has revealed to us.
Second, theology relates to real life by determining who we are and how we relate to others. The doctrines of creation and the imago Dei assert that all individuals reflect God’s image, which should inspire us to treat others with respect, patience, and selfless love. At the same time, doctrines like union with Christ, election, and adoption tell believers who we really are—loved, forgiven, and set apart. Theology is not just a hobby; it is the very foundation for how we live wisely and faithfully in God’s world.
