Brian, your post is a clear and thoughtful example of how theological concepts affect everyday life. I appreciated the connection you made between theology and identity by using the imago Dei to illustrate how what we believe about God affects how we treat others, both inside and outside of the Church. The concept of theology creating confidence rather than fear is very powerful because it illustrates the direct influence of our beliefs on our decisions and views. I also appreciated your use of the cross and resurrection to ground hardship in a tangible (pastoral) reality, in contrast to an abstract idea, which creates a framework for hope in suffering and endures hardships as found in Romans 8:28; this is very important to offer those who are going through struggles, to provide them with comfort and to remind them that God is always working in their lives regardless of what they are going through.
