Theology first affects our identity and choices in real life. Our beliefs about God have a direct impact on how we live. If we believe that God is in charge and will take care of us, we can deal with uncertainty with confidence instead of fear. When we understand doctrines like creation and the imago Dei, we remember that everyone has value and dignity. This changes how we treat people at work, at home, and in our communities. Theology is not abstract; it delineates our identity and our interaction with the world. Second, theology connects by showing us how to deal with pain and problems. A biblical theology of the cross and resurrection instructs us that suffering is not futile but can be utilized by God for His glory and our benefit (Rom. 8:28). This point of view gives people real hope when things are hard. Theology provides believers with endurance, comfort, and the assurance that Christ accompanies them in every season.
